Riftbound Announces 2027 Local Play Programs and Summoner Skirmish Updates

Riftbound is introducing a revamped local play structure for 2027, moving away from the Summoner Skirmish program. The new vision splits play into two distinct tracks: a competitive ladder for high-level play and a Fun-petitive structure designed to reward social participation and local store activity.

The Nexus Cup will serve as a per-set event at local game stores to crown local champions. Prizing for these events includes winner and Top 8 promos with unique stamps, a winner playmat, and participation promos. Meanwhile, the Challenge Series will be available at select Riftbound Gaming Network stores, providing a direct path to the competitive ladder through Ladder Points.

For players affected by the retirement of Summoner Skirmish, unused byes can be redeemed 1-for-1 for a Set 7, The Reckoning promo. Redemptions must be completed by December 31, 2027. Alternatively, byes can be redeemed at any 2027 Regional event by contacting UVS at least 14 days in advance or on-site during badge pickup.

Looking ahead to the Legacy era, Pre-Rift events are set to run from January 22 through January 28, 2026. These events will primarily fall under the Fun-petitive track, though they remain open to all players. Atlas Division. Research. Catalog. Connect.
