Pokémon TCG Pocket Announces New Series and Gameplay Changes
A shift in booster cycles and new mechanics arrive in late October 2026.
The Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket operations team has shared development plans for a new series launching at the end of October 2026. This update introduces several structural changes to how players collect and battle, including the debut of dual-type Pokémon.
To address collector feedback regarding the frequency of releases, the booster pack cycle is moving from a four-week schedule to a roughly six-week schedule. This change aims to allow players more time to build their collections. To fill the expanded gaps between packs, the team is introducing new missions, events, and special packs.
New collection features include the Special Pack: First Partners, which offers cards depicting first partner Pokémon from nine different regions. Additionally, players can earn immersive cards through specific missions and obtain themed promo cards by completing weekly mission sets.
The battling experience is also receiving updates. A new Community Decks feature will let players view and copy popular or friend-created decks. Rental decks will become available for unlimited use immediately upon new booster releases and will be playable in versus battles. Limited battle events with specific card restrictions are also planned to provide varied competitive experiences.
